Planning is most of the job
A lot can go wrong at events. The room is dark. The schedule overruns. The keynote speaker starts ten minutes before you’re expecting them. A photographer who hasn’t prepared for any of that will miss things.
Before every event we discuss the brief properly: what’s happening, when, who needs to be in the images, and importantly, where the images are going afterwards. A shot that works for a press release needs to be framed differently to one that’s going on your website or used in an internal report. We think about that before we press the shutter, not after.

CENEX – Low Carbon Vehicle Event
CENEX is one of the UK’s leading events for low carbon and connected vehicle technology. Two full days, multiple exhibition stands, speaker panels, networking, and an audience of industry specialists from around the world.
Our job was to give the organiser and exhibitors a complete visual record – stand documentation for exhibitors to use in their own marketing, speaker shots for PR, and wider atmospheric images that captured the scale and energy of the event.
That’s three different types of image, three different audiences, all shot in the same space over two days. It requires a shot list and a schedule, not just showing up with a camera.

The ECITB Active Cup is an annual event designed to develop leadership and project management skills in a fast paced competitive environment. Held at the prestigious Cranfield University our photography covered key moments of the competition including team activities, networking and award presentations. The images showed the professionalism and enthusiasm of the participants and gave a full visual story of the event.

ASHA Club – Advanced Dental Training Courses
The ASHA Club runs advanced training courses for dentists working towards their CPD requirements. Lectures, seminars, hands-on practical sessions – including suturing practice on pig mandibles.
Clinical photography has to walk a careful line. The images need to show the work clearly and professionally, without looking clinical to the point of being off-putting. They’re used in marketing materials to show prospective delegates what the courses involve, so they need to be honest and accurate, not sanitised.
We’ve covered several of these events for ASHA. They keep coming back, which is the real measure of whether it worked.
